John Scott Wedemeyer is a decorated Marine Corps veteran and accomplished aviator whose career exemplifies discipline, leadership, and precision. Born July 20, 1964, in Rockingham, North Carolina, John was a multi-sport athlete throughout his youth—football, baseball, basketball, tennis, golf, track and field, and swimming—instilling a competitive drive that carried into his academics and military service. A 1987 graduate of The Citadel, he earned his commission in the U.S. Marine Corps and excelled in naval flight training as a Distinguished Graduate, topping his class in four different aircraft platforms. Over a 20-year Marine career, John flew more than 4,700 hours in the F/A-18 Hornet—one of the highest totals ever recorded—completed five combat tours, and rose to Lieutenant Colonel. His honors include the Meritorious Service Medal, multiple Air Medals (with Bronze Star and Combat “V,” plus Strike Flight Numeral 9), five Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medals (one with Combat “V”), and achievement medals, underscoring his operational excellence and mentorship.
